A 31-year-old man has been arrested for making sexual advances towards women in Feltham in the shops on Staines Road.

As part of an ongoing investigation by Hounslow Police, a 31-year-old man has been taken into police custody as enquiries continue.

The man was suspected of having made sexual advances towards women in shops along Staines Road in Feltham over a period of time and was arrested under Section 4a of the Public Disorder Act.

This act covers: "The intention to cause (and thereby causing) harassment, alarm, or distress to a specific victim by words or behaviour.

"This offence could be appropriate for single incidents involving sexually threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour directed towards a stranger in public.

"As the effect on the victim is an essential element of the offence, prosecutors should seek evidence which demonstrates the impact of the behaviour.

"This could come from the victim directly or from another witness who observed the effect.

"Section 4A is committed when a person uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

"Whether words or behaviour are threatening, abusive or insulting will depend on the facts of the case."
