The director of the London Museum of Water & Steam in Brentford has raised almost £3,000 for museum funds after running in the 40th London Marathon.
On her last training run on Friday Liz Power said: "Massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me, it means so much."
"On Sunday I'm going to be thinking about the museum and what a difference the money we've raised is going to make.
"If you haven't had a chance to sponsor me yet, please do follow the link, and give what you can. It makes an enormous difference to a tiny museum like us, what we can do, how we can reopen, and what we can do for our local community."
When Liz had run 17 miles in Putney in Sunday's marathon, she said: "It's really tough going now, it's so wet, and so cold, and home feels like a long way away right now.
"So I'm thinking about the money, all that money, for the museum. When I left home this morning we had £2,600 in sponsorship which is amazing, so that's basically £100 for every mile I do, and I really hope when I make it home and I look at the fundraising page it is more than £100 a mile.
"So if you haven't donated, do it now, please and I will keep thinking about it and I will just keep going!
"We are now over £100 per mile as we've raised £2,969.20 at time of writing! We just need a little bit more to push us into £3,000!"
The London Museum of Water & Steam is hoping to re-open its doors to families and steam enthusiasts on October 24 after closing its doors in March due to the coronavirus lockdown.
