Hounslow local elections: Full list of candidates

The countdown to the 2022 local elections has begun. On May 5, voters will go to the polls to choose the councillors that will represent them for the next four years.

In Hounslow, a total of 172 candidates will be battling it out for 62 seats across 22 wards. This is a change from the last election where there were 60 seats available in 20 wards.

The Labour Party is putting forward 62 candidates, while the Conservative Party is offering up 61 candidates. There are also 26 Green candidates and 20 Liberal Democrats standing for office.

Two candidates are standing as independents, and just one candidate, Bob Ayres (Brentford East Ward), has not declared who he is standing for.

Issues high on the agenda for voters to consider include whether efforts to tackle crime and fly tipping in the borough are working, as well as how to address the need for social housing.

As a borough, Hounslow was hit particularly hard by the pandemic, with many job losses resulting from the drop in traffic through nearby Heathrow Airport. How candidates propose to support the borough's post-pandemic recovery may influence who comes out on top.
