Chiswick School has been nominated for several awards at the Times Higher Education school award, including for Secondary School of the Year.
It was a big day for Chiswick School, who have been nominated in three categories, Secondary School of the Year, The Excellence in Creative Arts award, and Tommy Robinson (Creative and Performing Arts Coordinator) has been shortlisted for Subject Lead of the Year.
The judges look for more than academic achievement when shortlisting for the secondary school of the year category; schools need to demonstrate innovation, imagination and efforts to develop children in ways that go beyond the league tables.
Headteacher, Laura Ellener, said; "To have been shortlisted for a second time is a real honour. I am so pleased that all the staff, students and the families at Chiswick School have been recognised for their achievements.
"The shortlisting looks beyond our excellent academic results and encompasses the wider life of the school, the incredible community that supports us and the opportunities provided to the amazing young people that come to Chiswick School."
Chiswick School have been nominated alongside: Blessed Robert Sutton Catholic Voluntary Academy, Staffordshire; Burnage Academy for Boys, Greater Manchester; Cardinal Pole Catholic School, London; Firrhill High School, Edinburgh; St Patrick's College, Dungannon; The Totteridge Academy, London; Wade Deacon High School, Halton in the Secondary School of the Year category.
The TES Schools Awards Winners will be announced on Friday 23rd June at a gala ceremony at London's Grosvenor Park Hotel.
Councillor Lily Bath, Cabinet member for Children, Learning and Employment, said: "Huge congratulations to Chiswick School; the student, staff and parents on the nominations. Being shortlisted for not one but multiple awards is testament to all the incredible work they do, going above and beyond.
"I am incredibly proud of all our schools in Hounslow and I am pleased that schools are getting the recognition they very much deserve."
