Several Hounslow MPs have backed Keir Starmer following his speech this morning about Labour's plans for the future.
Starmer made a speech this morning pledging that Labour would introduce a "Take back control" bill to devolve powers over employment support, transport, energy, housing, culture, and childcare should he win the next general election.
Several Hounslow MPs have since put their support behind Starmer's speech and his vision for the country on Twitter.
Seema Malhotra, MP for Feltham and Heston, tweeted: "An important, bold speech from Kier Starmer today. Under Keir's leadership the next Labour government will deliver a fairer, greener future for families and businesses across the country."
Ruth Cadbury, MP for Brentford and Isleworth, had a similar message: "A powerful speech from Keir Starmer setting out Labour ambitious plans to give power back to communities across our community.
"After a decade of Conservative rule, our country and our public services need a fresh start."
Starmer made the speech in East London this morning and promised a decade of renewal and hope for the future under a Labour government, despite being unable to spend their way out of the present political situation.
He said: "It's not unreasonable for us to recognise the desire for communities to stand on their own feet. It's what Take Back Control meant. The control people want is control over their lives and their community.
"So we will embrace the Take Back Control message. But we'll turn it from a slogan to a solution. From a catchphrase into change. We will spread control out of Westminster.
"Devolve new powers over employment support, transport, energy, climate change, housing, culture, childcare provision and how councils run their finances.
And we'll give communities a new right to request powers which go beyond this. All this will be in a new "Take Back Control" bill - a centrepiece of our first King's Speech.
"A bill that will deliver on the demand for a new Britain. A new approach to politics and democracy. A new approach to growth and our economy."
