The first collection event of the 2023/24 Free Trees for Hounslow initiative took place on Sunday, 3 December at Feltham Arenas Parklands, where more than 90 trees were collected.

At the event was Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Katherine Dunne, and residents (who had placed their order in advance) collecting their fruit tree.

The initiative is in its third consecutive year, with the offer also being open to schools, community groups and faith groups this year.

The annual free offering is part of the commitment to a greener and cleaner borough, and reinforces Hounslow Council's pledge to plant 22,500 trees by 2026, a target that is well on track to be exceeded it says.

Hounslow Council say there are still a limited number of trees available which residents can still claim.

The remaining collection days are:

  • Sunday, 14 January: Boston Manor Park, Brentford.
  • Sunday, 21 January: Turnham Green, Chiswick.

Schools, faith groups and community groups still have the opportunity to reserve some trees for their organisation by either claiming an individual tree or a bundle of three (one order per organisation).

Hounslow will plant more trees across the borough within the next three months (credit: Hounslow Council).

The council says If you placed an order twinned with the Feltham collection event but weren't able attend, contact the team by emailing [email protected].

Any orders that remain unclaimed after their collection day will be re-entered into the system to be claimed by another resident.

All trees for this year's winter tree planting season have been delivered to the Lampton Services depot. These will be planted across borough through the next three months.

A full tree planting schedule will be available via www.hounslow.gov.uk/treeplanting before the end of 2023.
