The Dukes Meadows Footbridge in Chiswick was unveiled by the Council in February of this year, has received a nomination in the Infrastructure and Transport category for The Architects' Journal Architecture Awards.

This pedestrian pathway offers a convenient and safer route for pedestrians to access the picturesque Thames Path, eliminating the need for a lengthy detour to rejoin the path after passing Barnes Bridge.

The project's success was made possible thanks to the support of the local community, effective collaboration between the Council and its partners, and the unwavering dedication of former Hounslow Leader, Steve Curran, and the current local ward member, Councillor John Todd.

This initiative is a part of the Mayor of London's £53 million Liveable Neighbourhoods programme, standing as a prominent example of Hounslow Council's commitment to invest £5 million to ensure its parks and open spaces continue to be among the finest in London.

The Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, said:

"Pedestrians using the Thames Path in Dukes Meadows usually find themselves facing a long detour that takes them away from the Thames to pass through a narrow tunnel under the railway.

"This bridge will now offer a fantastic uninterrupted route along the jewel in London's crown: the River Thames.

"We're proud to offer residents a more inclusive and accessible route to the Thames Path and look forward to welcoming even more visitors to Dukes Meadows."
