The first photos exposing fly-tippers have been published as part of a crackdown on rubbish dumped in the borough
A new campaign to shame fly-tippers commenced today (Tuesday, February 15), with three sets of CCTV stills published by Hounslow Council.
According to the council there were 24,210 incidents of fly-tipping on public land in Hounslow in 2021, which included 63,343 bags of dumped rubbish.
Its campaign 'Let's Scrap Fly-tipping' plans to combat this illegal dumping of waste , in part by asking Hounslow residents to help identify the people in the CCTV images so enforcement action can be taken.
The images published capture two incidents of fly-tipping in action on Maitland Close and a third on Whitton Road.
A spokesperson for Hounslow Council wrote: "We will be posting CCTV images of people we believe may be involved in the illegal dumping of waste and want your help to identify them so we can take the appropriate enforcement action.
"Not only is it a blight on our streets, but we spend over £1.3 million every year clearing up waste that has been dumped illegally.
"Fly-tipping is a criminal offence and can result in a fixed penalty notice of £400.If it is a largeor dangerous fly-tip we cantake the perpetrator to Court, where they could be fined up to £50,000 or even face a prison sentence."
If you recognise anyone in the images you can help scrap fly-tipping in Hounslow by reporting it to the Let's Scrap Fly-tipping campaign page.
