Planning chiefs say a major development behind Kew Bridge station should not be given approval.

The development, called The Kew Bridge Station Quarter, includes 45 flats and a nine-storey tower block in a storage yard behind the Express Tavern pub.

Hounslow Council planners say the development would harm the character and appearance of the site and neighbouring conservation areas which include listed buildings

They say the development would provide insufficient communal amenity space for residents and there is not enough affordable housing built into the scheme

Permission had been given for a six-storey residential building in 2018 but a plan was submitted for a tower on the same site that would be three storeys higher with an additional 15 apartments.

The site comprises an area of undeveloped land to the rear of 57-59 Kew Bridge Station and the national overground line.
