Transport for London have confirmed that the repairs to the Cromwell Road Rail Bridge will be delayed due to the cold weather conditions.

Repairs began to the bridge between the Hogarth roundabout and the Chiswick roundabout along the A4 Great West Road began on 9th December and were planned to carry on until the new year.

However, due to the cold weather, the eastbound closure between the M4 junction two and the Hogarth roundabout, which was due to take place from 23:20 on Friday 16th December to 5:00 on Monday 19th December has had to be suspended.

Tfl said on their website about the closure: "Transport for London (TfL) has advised residents that the Cromwell railway bridge, which carries the A4 Great West Road over the railway between Hogarth roundabout and Chiswick roundabout requires urgent repair work and some overnight road closures this month.

"This work is essential to improve the long-term condition of the bridge, ensuring it's safe for years to come and avoid more disruptive works in the future.

"No work will take place over Christmas and New Year weekends. During this work, delays and queues are expected.

"If you have to use the A4 Great West Road, allow more time for your journey or seek an alternative route."

The work to repair the bridge will still require this eastbound closure and will now run from Friday 6th January to Monday 9th January and Friday 13th January to Monday 16th January.
