Councillors have backed an idea to bring back the old Lucozade sign to Brentford town centre.
One option mooted is to put the neon image on the new controversial car park built by Ballymore in the high street.
The iconic sign used to be on the Great West Road where the soft drink was made but it was taken down in 2015 and is now in Gunnersbury Park Museum.
The idea to bring it back to Brentford was recently suggested by Brentford Today & TV journalist John Dale.
John wrote: "The Lucozade sign needs to be brought back into daylight and put where it can be seen again and appreciated as the most historic artefact it certainly is.
"Ballymore say they want to turn Brentford into a cultural hub. So why not restore the town's most iconic image – and at the same time improve the look of the concrete monolith they've imposed on the high street.
"They want the car park to be a 'gateway'. The sign was a gateway, it can be a gateway again."
The idea has now been given the backing by several local councillors.
Cllr Salman Shaheen said: "It would be a fantastic tribute to Brentford's heritage, paying homage to its past while a vibrant new heart is built into the town."
Cllr Guy Lambert said: "I would love to see the sign restored to somewhere in Brentford and the car park would be my prime candidate."
While Councillor Theo Dennison said: "The Lucozade sign would vastly improve the look of the car park and if we could test local opinion through a petition, I would be happy to see it done.
"It's worth asking what the cost would be to the local taxpayer though. Lucozade 'aint everyone's cup of tea!"
Cllr Lambert said Ballymore had been approached about the possibility of placing the sign on the car park and he was still awaiting a response.
The company's initial reaction was that it may prove difficult because of the nature of the cladding on the structure.
