Barclays have applied to the council to change the appearance of its branch in Brentford High Street as it presses on with plans to close it

Hounslow Council has received an application for the cash machine to be removed and the Barclays signage to be taken down.

The bank says this will revert the premises back to its original appearance.

The application signals that Barclays intends to carry out its plan to close the branch despite a petition signed by almost 500 people opposing the closure earmarked for June.

It will mean Brentford High Street is left without a single bank or post office.

The bank says the branch is under-used as more people switch to online and mobile banking.
