Canal update: Woman's body recovered from water at Brentford

A woman's body was recovered from the Grand Union Canal on Tuesday morning, police have confirmed.

A Met spokesman told Nub News: "On Tuesday, 27 April at 06:48hrs police were called to the Grand Union Canal near Transport Avenue, Brentford to reports of a body in the water.

"Police attended along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service [LAS].

"A woman was recovered from the canal. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."

The woman has not yet been identified and at the moment. her death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

A crime scene is in place and the canal remained sealed off this morning.

Police said enquiries were continuing.
