Brentford Voices: How are you coping with new Tier Two restrictions?

By The Editor 26th Aug 2021

London was last week put into Tier Two restrictions as the coronavirus spreads.

It means people are banned from meeting those from other households indoors, whether that's in their home or in a pub.

Londoners have also been advised to avoid public transport and reduce the number of journeys they make where possible.

So how are the people of Brentford finding the new restrictions and do you think a more severe lockdown is on its way?

Janet Stead, of Brentford Dock, said: "It's going to get increasingly difficult as the weather turns colder. Before, meeting friends outside was fine, but it's going to be a struggle now winter is coming. I think we are certain to move into Tier Three at some point in the winter."

Steven Jordan, said: "It's going to mean not seeing friends and relatives. I can't see many people wanting to meet outdoors in this weather. I was working back in the office in Oxford Street, but my company now wants me to work from home which is fine. I think there will be more restrictions before Christmas. People are still not wearing masks and are mixing."

Paul Clark, of London Road, said: "I've not been going back to pubs anyway, I don't think it's safe. I think we came out of the first lockdown too early. I think we will be in and out of them fort some time and I can't see Christmas being normal this year."

Stacey Bennett, of Ealing Road, said: "It's a real 'mare not being able to go round to people's homes. And with winter coming, it's going to be hard to meet outdoors. I think more lockdowns are coming. But people have been too relaxed because of the confusion from the government. A lot of my friends are not even sure what the rules are."
