THREE cars are being prepared in a Brentford garage ahead of the Concours of Elegance show taking place at Hampton Court this weekend.
Lance McCormack, founder of Romance of Rust, a classic car restoration business based in the Old Stables by Brentford docks, is greasing the gears ahead of the famous car show.
The Concours of Elegance brings together a selection of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world - many of which will never have been seen before in the UK.
McCormack founded the business in 1990, and became the youngest ever Rolls Royce final inspector.
The cars are currently kept in a 1930's factory warehouse near the docks and Brentford Project development site, now used for car restoration.
He will be taking a turquoise Jaguar XK120 roadster and a dark green, custom made 1950 Mercury Kustom, which McCormack calls 'Planet Voodoo'.
Featuring custom-made interior with cobra and boa constrictor skin and art by illustrator Vince Ray, the Kustom is a piece of art.
Its first outing was to the Louis Vuitton concours at The Hurlingham Club in 2004.
The car will take part in the '30 under 30' on Sunday, a race involving 30 cars driven by drivers under the age of 30.
The third car to feature at the event is an extremely rare 1930's Bentley, too rare to be on display.
Many of the Concours cars take part in a two-day driving tour in the days running up to the main Concours event.
The Concours of Elegance began at Windsor Castle in 2012 and moved to Hampton Court Palace in 2017.
The 2021 event will take place from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 September.
