A financial rescue package for Championship clubs such as Brentford FC has been agreed by the Premier League and English Football League (EFL) to help ease the challenge faced by EFL clubs as a result of the pandemic.

The EFL will be assisted in getting a £200m loan for Championship clubs.

The Premier League will pay up to £15m to help the EFL to secure a £200m loan which will then be lent to Championship clubs on an interest-free basis.

Loans will be capped at £8.33m for each club and must be repaid by June 2024.

Brentford's supporters are being allowed into games at the brand new stadium after the area moved into tier two restrictions, meaning up to 2,000 can now cheer on their team from the terraces.
