Following Brentford's 2-0 win over Chelsea on 29 October, Frank Onyeka received racial abuse on Instagram from a user.
The midfielder posted Brentford's win over Chelsea on his story, then followed with a screen shot of a DM (direct message) a user sent calling him a "monkey w*****."
Onyeka said: "Sad to see this is still happening. Post the Chelsea (vs) Brentford game and I get this."
Brentford called the incident "disgusting" and hopes that government policy can stop racial abuse online.
In a statement the club said: "It is hugely disappointing that one of our players has had to deal with this yet again.
"This week the Online Safety Bill was passed - we hope that its implementation will make social media safer and that it will support our efforts to hold these cowards and the social media companies themselves to account."
"Frank has our full support at this time as we instigate our investigations with the authorities.
"We remain committed to tackling discrimination throughout our game."
At the beginning of October, fellow teammate Ethan Pinnock also received racial abuse on the platform, after his team lost to Manchester United 2-1.
Meta has previously told Nub News that it has features on Instagram to filter out "offensive" messages within the app.
