HOUNSLOW Council won the 'Work Transformation Initiative' award for workforce achievements, at an annual ceremony last week.

The Council was crowned a winner at the Public Services People Managers Association (PPMA) out of public service organisations across the country.

The award recognises the achievements of the Council over the past 18 months, celebrating the growth, resilience and positivity of the workforce in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The winner of this award had to demonstrate that they had truly led the field in terms of workforce transformation.

They had to show they had built a productive workplace through employee engagement and countered the negative impact disengagement can have on organisational performance.

The PPMA awards celebrate achievements in the fields of Human Resources and Organisational Development.

Hounslow was particularly commended by PPMA judges for its work in developing new organisational values and behaviours, and embedding those into the day-to-day work of Council officers.

Cllr Candice Atterton, Cabinet Member for Adults, Social Care and Health, said: "Our mission is to instil an environment of fulfilment, where everyone who lives and works in the borough can achieve their full potential.

"The emphasis on investing and developing our people is the foundation upon which we hope to live and work.

"Over the past eighteen months, our Council colleagues have stepped-up tremendously to support the people and communities of Hounslow through the Coronavirus pandemic.

"Our staff have lived and breathed each of our corporate values in every single day - and continue to do so."
