HOUNSLOW Greens have named their candidate to stand for the party in the Brentford West ward, ahead of next May's local elections.

Greens have selected Stephen Clark, who has lived in Brentford West for 30 years and joined the Green Party in 2018.

Stephen was previously a senior civil servant at the Ministry of Defence and the Cabinet Office, and spent 10 years as a non-executive Director of West Middlesex Hospital.

In 2002 he was awarded an OBE for services to the Cabinet Office.

He currently chairs Your Voice in Health & Social Care which is responsible for Healthwatch Hounslow and is a Director of the Community Interest Company (CIC) running Gunnersbury Park.

He is an Associate of Compass, the 'think & do' pressure group for a new politics and a progressive alliance around a new democracy based on a fair proportional voting system, and a member of Make Votes Matter.

He was the London organiser for the Progressive Alliance for the 2017 General Election.

Stephen has eight years experience as a councillor in Hammersmith & Fulham, with two years as Leader of the Labour Group.

He has also been involved with the voluntary sector for over 35 years, including as Chair of Hammersmith and Fulham's Association of Voluntary Organisations, Chair of Age Concern Hounslow and ACAVA (a London based visual and community arts organisation).

He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA).

Jon Elkon, Co-ordinator of Hounslow Green Party said: "With Stephen's CV, we are so fortunate in having such a powerful, experienced candidate to present to voters.

"He will make an excellent councillor!"

Stephen said: "This will be one of the hardest-fought local elections for years.

"It's time the Labour monopoly gave way to a clear, unequivocal green voice ready to ensure all the Council's promises on air pollution and carbon emissions become reality."
