Rock ‘n’ roll band Hardwicke Circus to perform at ‘legendary’ Eel Pie Club in Twickenham on Thursday

By Nub News Reporter

Up-and-coming rock 'n' roll band Hardwicke Circus is preparing to premiere new tracks and fan favourites at the Eel Pie Club in Twickenham this Thursday (April 6).

Opened in 2000, The Eel Pie Club helps to preserve the musical heritage of the The Eel Pie Island Hotel, an iconic venue for UK Rhythm & Blues in the 1950s and 60s.

Formed in Carlisle, Hardwicke Circus (AKA The Hardwickes) has launched onto the rock 'n' roll scene, playing over 1,000 live shows already. This week, the band will play its first ever Twickenham gig.

Frontman Jonny Foster told Nub News: "It's exciting because the Eel Pie Club Hotel is legendary. Bands that performed there in the past range from the Stones and David Bowie to Jeff Beck and The Yardbirds.

"We've always looked up to the bands that have been there, so it feels like a great thing to be able to play amongst all that history and greatness."

The Hardwickes are gearing up to release their sophomore album, Fly the Flag, on June 9.

"We're currently putting all our new songs into the set, so audiences will be able to hear some of the tracks from our new album. We haven't performed them live yet. It's an exciting time."

For the first time, the Hardwickes will be joined by a guest drummer, a young London-based called Roy Lowe. The youngster will play onstage alongside the Hardwickes' drummer Tom Foster.

Jonny added: "It will be a new thing for us - and the audience too. I don't think the Eel Pie Club has had two drummers playing together on stage before.

"We want to encourage everybody – your friends, your foes, even your grannies – to come down to the gig.

"It's got to be seen to be believed - we're a different animal when we're on the stage. Our music is one thing, but it becomes something entirely different when you see us live.

"We're very excited for it."

Tickets for Thursday's gig are available via the Eel Pie Club's website.
