Festive community events across Hounslow's town centres have received Welcome Back funding in a bid to bring life, community and fun back to public spaces across the borough.

So far, Welcome Back Funding has looked to support events organised by local community organisations in the borough's four main town centres, including an additional tree, organised by the Chiswick Flower Market.

Funding has also been used to create magical street performances such as Feltham's Winters Night Lantern parade and upcoming Christmas themed brass band performances to soundtrack your shopping trips.

The funding, which is available for events in Hounslow held before the end of March 2022, is provided to local organisations to help run bigger events, involve more of the community, or that leave a lasting legacy.

Welcome Back Fund events and activities have been financed from the European Regional Development Fund and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

Arts programme manager for Feltham Arts Association, Charlotte Skinner said: "The Welcome Back Fund money has allowed us to heighten the performance aspect of the Feltham parade, making this a great experience for local children and the wider community."

Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council, said: "I'm glad to see that hard-working organisations across Hounslow are getting financial support for creative events that bring residents together in enjoying our town centres, while supporting local businesses.

"After the difficult times we have all faced these festive events have brought back that sense of community and joy that we have all missed due to the pandemic.

"We have been able to celebrate our public spaces being open and full again.

"The Welcome Back Fund events provide the perfect example of how vibrant and diverse Hounslow is, while supporting our commitment to stimulate the local economy and encourage everyone to Shop Local."

Cllr Shantanu Rajawat, Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate Services added: "It's fantastic to see the Welcome Back Fund providing enriching experiences for residents in every corner of the borough and revitalising our town centres.

"It's bringing some extra special festive joy after so many events were cancelled last year."

The Council is interested in hearing about events being planned in town centres for early 2022 as soon as possible. Any organisation in Hounslow with experience in running events in town centres that would like support for an upcoming event should email [email protected].
