Members of the Brentford community gathered at the St Paul's Recreation Ground to celebrate the official reopening of the restored Victorian water fountain, at 11am on Thursday, 7 October.

The restoration project was spearheaded by the London Borough of Hounslow, Heritage of London Trust, and the Friends of St Paul's Recreation Ground.

Pupils from St Paul's Primary school carried out the official ribbon cutting and Brentford School for Girls choir sung for the event.

It is hoped the fountain will help tackle single-use plastic in Brentford.

Children from Year 3 at St Paul's Primary school also brought a reusable bottle each to fill at the fountain as part of the ceremony.

They will now work out how much water has been used and how many single-use bottles were saved by doing so.

This will be calculated to find out how much water/single use bottles would be saved if this was done weekly for a year etc.

St Paul's Recreation fountain was erected in 1889 with money raised to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.
