The official reopening of a restored Victorian water fountain will take place in St Paul's Recreation Ground, next Thursday.
The restoration project hopes to help in the elimination of single-use plastic bottles in Brentford, by offering a usable water point in the centre of town.
Everyone is invited to come to the grand opening, in celebration of one of Brentford's best known, much loved and practical landmarks.
London Borough of Hounslow, Heritage of London Trust and St Paul's Recreation Ground were behind the project which has been a few years in the making.
It is part of an ongoing programme with the group Friends of St Paul's Recreation Ground, to ensure the much-loved park 'remains an oasis within the surrounding urban landscape, serving the needs of all residents, young and old, and as a focal point for the local community.'
Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Steve Curran, will introduce the opening event, along with representatives from Heritage of London, Proud Places, St Paul's Church and St Paul's Primary School.
Brentford School for Girls Choir will sing ahead of the official cutting of the ribbon, which will be carried out by a pupil from St Paul's.
As part of the ceremony, every child will bring a reusable bottle to fill at the fountain.
It will then be calculated how much water has been used and how many single-use bottles this has saved.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday 7 October 11am – 12am.
