THE Creative Mile Brentford Art Trail brought in an estimated 3,000 visitors, according to organiser Mark Pearce.

The event, which took place 3–5 September, saw eight venues open their doors across a one mile stretch of Brentford and featured over 60 artists.

Venues involved recorded their footfall across the three days, with The Musical Museum experiencing its busiest weekend since opening.

Pearce aka artist Mr Mr Pearce, initially anticipated the event would attract up to 1,500 people, so was pleased with the turnout.

Pearce said: "It had a really good atmosphere, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and Brentford felt quite busy with everyone walking around, it feels like a success and the start of something.

"Someone said to me they've been every day. That was a nice bit of feedback, that people felt there was enough to come back.

"Others said there were venues they had never been to before in 20 years of living here, so it was kind of an opening up of places in the area too.

"Whether or not you're interested in art there's another aspect which is just about becoming a bit more aware of what's happening in Brentford."

Pearce, who had run open studios at Johnson Island before, said he had never taken on a project to this scale.

Visitors were predominantly from neighbouring areas but there were some from as far as east London, who came to see what the west London artists had to offer.

Brentford ward councillor Guy Lambert was apparently among those who attended and, according to Pearce, said the event exceeded his expectations.

There is a good chance of another event next September, funding provided, and Pearce is optimistic about the Trail's future.
