We are back in STEAM!
December 30 & 31 2023, January 1 2024, 10:00-16:00
This new year, we're are bringing their engines back to life! This is the first opportunity in two years for people to marvel at the monstrous working steam engines that provided water to millions and helped make London the city it is today.
In early 2022, the Museum's 96-year-old Lancashire Boiler failed, and the steam engines fell silent and still. This three-day celebration kicks off an ambitious and innovative 'Steaming into Sustainability' project that takes the steps towards maintaining a working industrial steam museum with carbon positive historic engineering.
We've been working hard to find a way to bring the life and dynamism back to the collection, which so many people know and love, and this is just the beginning of a great sustainability journey.
To celebrate, the Museum is throwing a New Years Eve party like no other! Going all out for the first Steam Up in almost two years, there will be a programme of exciting activities and workshops to join. The Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers will be demonstrating their model steam trains on a purpose-built track, a water Sommelier will be there to share the delicate art of water tasting, and their own steam locomotive Thomas Wicksteed will be running rides around the museum site all weekend. More to be confirmed.
Buy your tickets now for a New Year celebration like no other!
