The Brentford Women continue their Adobe FA Cup journey this Sunday, 22 September at Bedfont Sports Club with a second-round fixture against Tilehurst Panthers after thrashing North Leigh 18-1 in the first round. 

Karleigh Osborne's side are enjoying a perfect start to the season so far with five wins from five, already doing one better than last year in the FA Cup, which saw The Bees exit in the first round against Southampton Womens in a marginal 3-2 defeat. 

Still bitter after being knocked out in the first-round last season, the team travelled to Eynsham Park to face North Leigh on 1 September, where Brentford secured their biggest-ever win a dominant 18-1 victory. 

Speaking to Nub News, Osborne explains that his side is prepared to face Tilehurst especially after the squad's display in the first round. 

Osborne says: "We're trying to set the standards differently this year in terms of how we do stuff, being ruthless and making sure we create a lot of opportunities for our players and we did that. 

"But we got to keep building on that week in and week out, no matter what opposition we play. We have got to be ruthless." 

Brentford Women go into their fixture against Tilehurst on the back of a close 2-1 win against Dulwich Hamlet Reserves in the London South East Division One North League, where Osborne's side currently sit top of the table on 12 points. 

"There's always going to be tough challenges out there and we've got to rise to that, says Osborne. "The club that we are, people will want to get a result against us and that's the pressure we have to deal with."

With an impressive start to the season and new additions to the squad, the players will be eager to maintain their form after narrowly missing out on promotion during the last campaign. 

Osborne admits: "Promotion is important. For us it's about winning the league and we need to make sure that we stay focused on that but we'd love to have a good cup run, especially in the FA Cup because of its history." 

The head coach adds: "They (the new signings) have been brilliant. They've taken us up another level. We've got Ashley Cheatley who's in an unbelievable bit of form straight away. 

"And we brought Carolin (Engelhard) and she's a fantastic addition. A good defender, strong, physical but also has good footballing ability. 

"Same with Lucy. Lucy Potter has come in and added some quality and a great mindset. 

"And we've got Habs (Habeebat Gbajabiamila), a young player who has got bags of energy, bags of pace and is a real threat."

Brentford Women will look to progress in the FA Cup tomorrow to then focus their attention on the league where they host Clapton at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday, 29 September at 3pm. 

Trying to break the record attendance for a Brentford Women's fixture at the Gtech, Osborne encourages fans to support the team each week who he promises will give spectators a "good performance". 

"The fans have been magnificent for us and our fan base is growing week in and week out," says Osborne. "It's great support for the team, it helps us grow and almost gives us a 12th person to help us play."
