Brentford Women missed the chance to move joint top of LSE Division One North as they lost 1-0 away against Dulwich Hamlet Reserves.

The Bees were full of confidence leading into the match on account of their 5-4 FA Cup victory over Woodley United last weekend, but struggled to create meaningful chances in this one.

Mary Robinson got the only goal of the game for Dulwich during the first half and Brentford failed to find a response.

Defeat means that the Bees are still waiting for their first away win of the season and sit sixth in Division One North after four games.

The game took a while to burst into life, with both sides feeling each other out in the early stages, with Sophie Troth firing the first warning shot as she volleyed over the top of the Dulwich goal.

Shortly after the half hour mark, Robinson picked up the ball in the box and found space before caressing it into the bottom corner beyond Lilly Hadrava.

From this point Brentford applied pressure but the Dulwich rear guard gave up very little and clear-cut opportunities failed to present themselves.

It was actually the hosts who had the better chance to wrap the three points up with ten minutes to play as Hadrava was called into action to deny the striker with a strong save.

The loss leaves Brentford on six points from four games, level with three other sides, but sat sixth on goal difference, which was largely warped due to the 9-2 defeat against Dorking Wanderers Ladies.

The Bees return to FA Cup action next Sunday as they travel to Abingdon United in the second qualifying round, with the team two wins from the first-round proper.
