In a thrilling encounter in front of 4,896 fans at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford Women secured a resounding victory over Ashmount Leigh in a LSE Regional WFL Division One North fixture on 24th March 2024.
The game began with Brentford Women asserting early dominance, earning the first corner within five minutes.
The pressure intensified as Kirsty Matthews found herself through on goal at the 8th minute, only to be flagged offside.
However, Brentford persisted, with Chloe Logie threatening Ashmount Leigh's defence at the 14th minute, only to be denied by a crucial block.
The breakthrough came at the 18th minute when Kirsty Matthews expertly cut inside and found the back of the net, giving Brentford the lead.
The momentum continued as Maddie Phillips unleashed a spectacular strike from distance at the 29th minute, doubling Brentford's advantage.
Logie then extended the lead further at the half-hour mark, capitalising on Eleonora Cottrell's pass.
As the second half commenced, Brentford maintained their relentless attacking display.
Nikki Woods added a fourth goal at the 52nd minute before earning a penalty at the 61st minute, which Logie converted for her second goal of the match and 40th in the league this season.
Although Ashmount Leigh managed to pull one back through Keisha Small at the 68th minute, it would only be a consultation.
Substitute Wardlaw added a sixth goal at the 89th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory for the Bees.
Following the game, Brentford Women's Head Coach Karleigh Osborne expressed satisfaction with the result but emphasised the team's potential for further improvement.
He said: "Happy with the result but I think we could've showcased our footballing side more, but I am super pleased with how the girls carried themselves.
"We scored some fantastic goals today. We did showcase some of the stuff (that we work on) but I would've liked to have shown it more.
"I know how good this group is and I want them to keep on showing it all the time."
Osborne then praised Chole Logie for her exceptional performance and 40th league goal of the season:
The coach said: "Logie is unreal, she's a brilliant player but she is a real good character as well.
"I am just proud of her. She's growing and getting stronger each game and I think she's got a big future ahead of her."
Osborne also reflected on Phillips' goal of the game during the first-half.
He said: "It doesn't surprise me that Maddie scored to be fair. She's got great technique, really good, really clever player.
"It's great for her especially being a massive Brentford fan. I'm pretty sure she'll never forget that."
Osborne commended her team's resilience and character, acknowledging the pressure of playing in front of a substantial crowd at the Gtech Stadium.
"It is pressure but ultimately when you play for Brentford FC there is going to be a level of pressure on you so that is something they're going to have to get use to and they're adjusting to all the time.
"But the way that we're playing at the moment, we are in a really good vein of form as a team and as a squad so they'll give themselves the best chances as long as they keep doing what they are," said Osborne.
Despite currently sitting fourth in the table, Brentford Women have five games in hand over the leaders, Sport London E Benfica, positioning them well for a potential promotion this season.
With Brentford set to face Denham United next, and Ashmount Leigh preparing to take on Whyteleafe at home, both teams will be eager to build on their performances as they continue their campaign in the LSE Regional WFL Division One North.
