Weekend weather: From snow to the first signs of Spring

It's only a few weekends ago that winter showed its full might with heavy snow in west London.

Youngsters - and adults - rushed outdoors to build snowmen and revel in the white stuff which has been the only significant snowfall, so far, of the winter.

But contrast that to the weather and temperatures this weekend.

Met Office forecasters say temperatures are expected to soar to as high as 16C – well above average for February.

Saturday will be cloudy at times and breezy but mainly dry.

It will be largely dry and rather mild on Saturday night.

Sunday will be less breezy and mostly dry with sunny spells.

A cloudy day is expected on Monday with rain for a time but staying mild and winds will become mostly gentle.

It's maybe a little early to hang up your scarves and coats – forecasters say it will start to feel chilly and wet again next week although it won't be as cold as recent days.

With the first daffodils spotted in Brentford Dock this week, and with only weeks before the clocks change, Spring is surely on its way.
