Ground-breaking collaboration and experimentation by Watermans and WRO (Poland) to develop more environmentally-friendly ways for artists to develop and exhibit work internationally.

In a unique international collaboration between Watermans and WRO arts centre in Wroclaw, Poland the two venues will be presenting cutting-edge new media art in new ways to reduce the impact on the environment. The two venues will cross-stream co-created events live between the two venues in a series of special events.

The first event, on September 16, Digital Redux, explores how artists can present their work in a world where face to face contact is minimal and the opportunity of digital communications continues to expand.

The pandemic has forced us to embrace technology to connect us without physical presence and the growing environmental challenge further urges us to explore new ways to share, build relationships and collaborate with less impact on the environment. This project is designed to encourage artists to embrace climate-conscious ways of collaborating, sharing and exhibiting their art across international boundaries in ways that will continue to excite and engage audiences by challenging them in the way they perceive art.

The first event will see a performance of Abstract Encounters by audio-visual pioneers Blanca Regina and Pierre Bouvier Patron live at 7.00 pm at Watermans which will also be streamed to WRO in Poland. Then, from WRO, there will be a performance of PermaNoise by Mikro Orchestra, four "sound operators" who play minimalist musical forms live on games consoles.

This project was one of a handful that is funded by one of the British Council's International Collaboration Grants. These grants are designed to support UK and overseas organisations to collaborate on international arts projects. Watermans has made this event FREE but tickets need to be booked via Watermans website or Box Office.
