Watermans has announced a date for when it plans to reopen following the easing of lockdown restrictions.

The Brentford arts and culture centre will open its doors again on Thursday May 20.

Watermans closed for the third time last year.

Jan Lennox, director, said: "It's been a long haul since then, as it has been for venues around the country, and we've really missed seeing our audiences and artists in the building every day.

"Throughout December, and since, we have been so touched by all the support you've given us. When we told you we were struggling and launched the crowdfunding campaign, we were blown away by your concern, support and generosity.

"I promised you then, that with your support, we would reopen as soon as we were allowed. And we will!

"I'm so pleased to tell you that, assuming nothing changes with the government's 'roadmap', we will reopen on Thursday 20 May.

"Initially, we will have the Cinema and Gallery open and, of course, the Guru Tandoori Kitchen and Bar. We will announce the programme in the next couple of weeks.

"The Theatre programme will then follow with a series of Friday Nights Live from late June.

"The most important thing, of course, is that we open safely, both for our audiences and our staff. So over the next three weeks, we'll be working hard to get everything ready to welcome you back!

"I know everyone's experience of the pandemic has been different over the last year, so we would really like to hear from you about how you feel about the restrictions easing and about coming back to our venue.

"Listening to you will help us make Watermans as safe and happy a place as it can be. So if you can spare a few minutes to fill in our survey, I'd be really grateful."
