Take care if you are taking a walk on the river over the next few days - the Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for parts of the Thames.

Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green have been named as local points of the river where flooding and high tides could occur.

The flood alert covers the Tidal Thames riverside from Putney Bridge to Teddington Weir.

The agency said: "River levels are expected to be high as a result of spring tides. The forecast high tide at Richmond will be 4.70m at 2.45pm on January 13 and 4.62m at 3am on January 14.

"Flooding of low-lying roads and footpaths is expected, which may exist for one to two hours either side of high tide. Flooding of properties is not expected.

"We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Putney Embankment (SW15), Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green (W4), Thames Bank at Mortlake (SW14), Ranelagh Drive (TW1), Friars Lane and Water Lane (TW9), Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham and the Towpath below Teddington Lock.

"Astronomical tide levels are rising. We anticipate that the flows will continue to rise for the next few days."
