Community group Brentford Voice have welcomed the council's draft vision for the future of Brentford but believe the study area should be extended.
Hounslow Council planners have produced the vision based on a consultation with residents which is still ongoing.
Brentford Voice has welcomed the publication of the consultation.
It said: "In its current form the vision covers most of the main issues, albeit in a cursory manner.
"We cannot overstate the importance of ensuring that the vision is developed with the fullest possible participation of the community.
"We believe that the future of Brentford town centre can only be considered within the context of the wider Brentford community.
"We therefore believe that is very important for the study area to extend from Kew Bridge in the east to London Road in the west.
"To the north, the study area should extend across the A4/M4 corridor to Hounslow's boundary with LB Ealing.
"Brentford Voice are preparing a full response to the consultation.
"We would encourage people in Brentford to make their own responses to the consultation."
Ideas for the future look of the town include:
An attractive, safe and continuous Thames River Path that connects to the River Brent and canal.
- Providing a mix of activity fronting the water - traditional industries, canal boats and pubs; new cafes/bars; and parkland and wetland.
- Waterman's Park as a priority project, to transform this river front space, with planting and community facilities.
- Better signage towards the waterfront, and investment in Brentford's historic lanes and yards connecting the High Street and the water.
- A programme of events celebrating Brentford's role at the confluence of the Rivers Thames and Brent, with learning and volunteering opportunities.
- Establish a network of green and open spaces within the town and better links to large open spaces nearby.
- Investment in St Lawrence's churchyard, Waterman's Park, St Paul's Recreation Ground as Brentford's key green spaces.
- Better walking and cycling links to Boston Manor Park, Gunnersbury Park and Syon Park, possibly with a new River Brent footbridge.
- A new nature reserve at the former rail line to the west of Commerce Road with learning and volunteering opportunities.
