Students and parents from Hounslow and beyond braved the wet and windy weather on Saturday to take part in the Autumn Junior Rowing Regatta in Brentford.
Rowers from local teams and schools came together to participate and race in the Hounslow Regatta, organised by Team Keane, also known as the Hounslow Community Trust.
Despite the weather, rowers from a mix of abilities took to the River Thames for an action-packed day on the water.
Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Bishnu Gurung led the awards ceremony in the afternoon where he congratulated the hard work and winning performances.
In his speech, Mayor Bishnu said: "The Thames Tideway is a special part of our community and I am proud to see the community use the river in such a positive way.
"Rowing is a wonderful sport that has a long history on this river and in our Borough.
"This very spot has hosted ferries, boatbuilders and all sorts of river activities for many years.
"It is delightful to today see it used for rowing by so many happy and health local youngsters."
He added: "Seeing young people work together, work hard, enjoy their friends and our river and this wonderful sport is inspiring."
The Trust is focused on supporting rowing for local state schools, gaining funding through community events such as the regatta.
Paul Keane, club leader and head coach said: "Most rowing regattas expect the crews and clubs to bring all their own equipment with them, but we provide it so we can get all schools involved and help with the finances.
"It gives them that opportunity, so that if they want to take it further they can."
The club is based at the Ferry Quays site in Brentford.
Well done to everyone who took part!
