Graffiti appearing to refer to the controversial issue of the bowling green at Gunnersbury Park has appeared in recent days.
A number of incidents have occurred that mention staff members of the management company, Gunnersbury Estate 2026 CIC (CIC) which has applied for planning permission to allow Gunnersbury Park Bowls Club to be converted into a pitch and putt run by Putt in the Park.
Hounslow Council has deferred a decision on the application but the CIC has refused the bowls club access to the bowling green.
Graffiti on a sign in the park says 'Bowler must resign' in reference to David Bowler the chief executive of the CIC.
In a statement the CIC said, "While there may be differing opinions on the future of the bowling green and pavilion, acts of vandalism and criminal damage are never acceptable ways to express those opinions.
"At a time of continued operational and financial pressures, the unnecessary expense of having to remove graffiti is an unwelcome distraction.
"We hope that the actions of the individual or small group of individuals responsible will be deplored by the majority of park users."
More than 600 people have signed a petition opposing the closure of the bowls club.
