University of West London nursing and midwifery students up for national awards
Nursing and midwifery students at the University of West London (UWL) are in the running to be crowned best in the country in this year's Student Nursing Times Awards.
Six newly-trained healthcare professionals shortlisted across six categories in this year's award ceremony had their success put on hold.
Now they could finally be in for the recognition after years of commitment to their courses, patients, and fellow students.
The Brentford-based university's immersive learning and teaching theatre event has also been nominated for Teaching Innovation of the Year.
The theatre helped to create a memorable simulation environment for nursing and midwifery students.
Charmagne Barnes, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Dean of UWL's College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare (CNMH), said: "We are incredibly proud to see so many of our nursing and midwifery students - and our innovative immersive simulation activity - in this year's shortlist.
"To see recognition of the achievement of our students and the innovative work that has gone into the learning and teaching strategy we have been nominated for, is both, inspiring and very good news. We wish all our nominees all the best of luck."
Tina Donne, Orlando Chin, Samren Ahmed, Bethany Taylor and Bethany Chapman have all been shortlisted for Student of the Year.
Tina Donne has also been shortlisted for Outstanding Contributions to Student Affairs, with Teddy Sardua in the running to be named Learner of the Year.
