Brentford boss Thomas Frank says there is no voodoo curse overshadowing their play-off prospects.

The Bees go into the first leg of the semi-final against Bournemouth tonight.

Brentford have the worst record in English football in the play-offs having failed nine times to win promotion through the system.

But Frank dismissed the club's record in the play-offs. He said: "That is history. For us it is not going into our head because we know that there is not a Voodoo curse over Brentford that means we can't get a positive result.

"I understand the fans and their emotions; they are not in it, they can't control it, they are worried.

"We are going in there with the knowledge that we can win, or we can lose; the knowledge that these are big games that we will do everything we can to come out on the right side of.

"We have more experience; we will be in a better place. Will that give us enough to win? Maybe.

"Maybe in the tight moments but there are a lot of other margins that are not only about experience. We are in a good place going into the Semi-Finals."

Brentford are marginal favourites to win at the Vitality Stadium – they are 8/5 with William Hill's. Bournemouth are 7/4 with Tonybet, while the draw can be backed at 12/5 with bet365. Brentford are odds-on at 8/13 to qualify with Hills' with Bournemouth 13/8 with bet365.
