A dilapidated pub once synonymous with Bees fans could soon become the national headquarters of the Armenian Church.
The Princess Royal has been boarded up for more than two years with an unclear future for as long.
Home at one stage to squatters, rumours circulated that supermarket chains Sainsbury's and Tesco were in competition to buy the site on Ealing Road, put on the market for £1,250,000.
Purchased from Fullers by The Armenian Church in February, a new planning application (P/2022/3430) has been made to Hounslow Council after a previous iteration lapsed.
"It is going to be turned into the centre for our church," Zorik Gasparian, one of the trustees of the church, told online sports site The Athletic in March. "It will accommodate the church's office and we will hold activities for the community including bible reading classes and dance, music and art lessons. Our architect is trying to keep as many of the original features as possible. We are saving the pictures from the pub so we can hang them up on the wall once it's finished."
The latest application submitted by Bishop Hovakim Manukyan, includes, the primate of the Armenian Church in the UK and Ireland, includes two community halls on the ground floor and accommodation on the upper floors including 5 bedrooms.
Before he became Brentford's chief executive in 2019, the 107 Ealing Road pub was a watering hole of lifelong Bees fan Jon Varney, and famous for being one of the four pubs on each corner of Brentford FC's former stadium at Griffin Park.
