Emergency services are dealing with an incident near the railway between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction, causing delays and cancellation to South Western Railway (SWR) trains.

A British Transport Police spokesperson told BBC London: "We received a report of a casualty on the tracks shortly after 7:30am today.

"Paramedics and Fire attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene"

The Hounslow Loop, Kingston, Chessington and other lines are experiencing 'major disruptions' says the train network.

Services running from these stations may be cancelled delayed or revised, with disruption expected to last until 4pm today (20 March).

SWR says: "We have received an emergency call from a train between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction.

"Until the situation has been assessed all trains in the area will have to remain at a stand.

"Our control room and the signalling staff are liaising with the train crew, staff are being sent to the scene in order to determine what action needs to be taken."

This comes as the train company is experiencing a nationwide problem with real-time information on a number of systems with some trains potentially showing incorrect delay information.

SWR say that it is being investigated and will be resolved as soon as possible.
