Second laptop and tablet collection at St Paul's this Saturday
Organisers of last Saturday's laptop donations drive will be collecting unwanted laptops and tablets for digitally excluded pupils in Hounslow once again this Saturday.
The collections will be taken between 1pm and 3pm at St Paul's church following huge demand for a second collection.
It follows last Saturday's collection which saw 50 devices donated by the community in Brentford to help pupils without access to remote learning.
The initiative is part of a wider drive to collect laptops and tablet devices for schoolchildren which includes Richmond Rugby Club and Veritas Digital Services.
"The response from the community last week was absolutely incredible – thanks to the generosity of people in Brentford, 50 more pupils in our borough will be able to access remote learning," said organiser Jack Emsley.
"We've had so many ask about a second chance to donate spare devices following our drive last week, so we've agreed with St Paul's church to run a second donations drive this Saturday the 27th between 1pm and 3pm."
Laptops and tablets are professionally wiped clean and reloaded with updated software thanks to Veritas Digital Services. Similar collections are also being run at the Wellington Day Centre in Hounslow (TW4 5BA) this Saturday between 10am and 12pm, and at the Feltham Assembly Hall (TW14 9DN) on Sunday between 11am and 1pm.
"We've been running donations drives for spare laptops since the beginning of the year across Chiswick and, combined with donations received last week in Brentford, we've secured over 350 devices to help pupils in Hounslow without access to remote learning," said organiser and Chiswick councillor Ron Mushiso.
"A massive thank you to the amazing community across the borough for their generosity in supporting students in need!"
