A deer has been rescued by the RSPCA from a family's living room in Bury St Edmond's after being taken 90 miles from Isleworth.

A family saw the deer on 16th May and believed that it needed help and so brought it 90 miles back to their family home.

They called the RSPCA two days later and inspector Philip Norman concluded that whilst they had good intention, the young deer will now likely be rejected by its mother as it smells of their house.

The female roe deer is now being cared for at a specialist wildlife centre before being released back into the wild in Isleworth once it is old enough.

Norman said: "It's normal for young deer to be seen on their own in the wild but their mum will return to feed them. So unless they look obviously sick or injured, they should be left alone."
