THE Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, has staged an 'impromptu' kick-about with youngsters at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub ahead of today's EURO clash with Germany.

According to The Sun, Mr Sunak believes that the new Sports Hub at Gunnersbury Park could help England's bid for the 2030 World Cup.

He was joined by Brentford midfielder, Josh Dasilva, who was helping with a junior coaching session.

The Chancellor told The Sun: "You're seeing all these girls out and about and everyone having a great time, and this is the legacy we are trying to build leading up to 2030.

"We are working with the FA, the Premier League and with local authorities to build these more hub-oriented models and you can see what a fantastic facility it is.

"We need to find the Matt Le Tissiers of tomorrow, that's what it's about."

He added: "The local club here is in the Premier League for the first time and that's inspirational for people.

"We need to give those young people who have the dream the means to realise that dream — whether it's playing for England or their local club."

Mr Sunak wore an England shirt with his name and the number of his Downing Street residence (11) on the back and said he would be wearing it again for today's match against Germany.

The FA tweeted: "Great to join Rishi Sunak at this brilliant new sports hub in Gunnersbury Park.

"The government's recent £25million investment in grassroots facilities, the first part of a £550million commitment, will transform the football landscape."

Better Gunnersbury took to Instagram following the visit and wrote: "We were very lucky to welcome the Chancellor of the Exchequer to the sports hub this week."
