Metropolitan Police have banned a man from entering a town centre in West London for five years.

Officers told Hounslow Council that the man was responsible for a number of calls to the police in the area.

The man, who has not been named, is said to cause 'excessive anti-social behaviour in Hounslow Central area, which covers Lampton, Inwood Park and Thornbury Park.

According to a report, sent to the Central Hounslow Area Forum, due to be held on Friday (November 11), officers received a number of calls reporting that the man was urinating in public, as well as begging aggressively, taking drugs and sleeping in local flat stairwells.

Police have since banned him from Hounslow town centre using a crime prevention order (CBO). According to Shelter, CBOs are aimed at stopping serious and persistent antisocial behaviour and can lead to imprisonment or eviction if conditions are breached.

The man has been banned for five years and has also been prohibited from committing certain acts of anti-social behaviour, details of which have not been provided by officers. A report submitted to the council says: "This has had a positive impact on those affected and the community as a whole and our ASB calls have substantially reduced."

Anti-social behaviour continues to be the highest reported crime in Hounslow, with more than 400 incidents reported to officers in the last 12 months, the same report shows. Violence and sexual offences are the second highest crime type in the town centre.

There have been less than 50 bicycle thefts in Hounslow over the last 12 months. But, earlier this year a man who stole a bicycle worth £240 was arrested and caught with heroin in his pocket.

Shoplifting and possession of weapons are the lowest forms of crime in Hounslow. Despite this, in the last year officers have arrested a number of people for the offences.

A woman was sentenced to six months in jail in June after being caught on Hounslow High Street with £240 of stolen goods from shops. Offers also spotted a man drop a dagger in Chapel Road, and after a search police found heroin in his sock. He was handed a four-month prison sentence.

In June, police officers conducted a knife arch operation at Hounslow East Tube Station where there were 23 drug searches, plus officers found one knife and pliers.
