Olive the cockapoo is home after going missing from her garden in nearby Whitton before the weekend.

The owners of the seven year old launched a social media campaign to find the much loved family pet, which was shared an astonishing 6.4 million times.

Evidence suggests that Olive escaped from the garden and set off on an adventure before being found several roads away.

The person who found Olive contacted a local vet and then a dog lover who rescues dogs in the Bedfont area, who looked after her over the weekend.

She searched Facebook posts on Sunday and found the owners were looking for Olive. And this morning – Monday – she was returned home.

The owner, Dave Paskins, said the family is delighted to have Olive back at home.

'This just hows the power of social media. We are very grateful to everyone for helping, including some very supportive dog charities,' he said.
