Support to help Brentford residents who have lost their jobs during the Covid-19 crisis is to be provided.
More than £12million has been made available through the Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) programme to help some 9,000 people find work and to develop new skills.
West London has seen thousands of job losses and some of the highest increases in unemployment.
The Job Entry Targeted Support scheme is delivered in West London through the Shaw Trust and is designed to help people to find work who have been unemployed and in receipt of benefits for at least 13 weeks.
Employment advisors have been deployed to support people for up to six months through one to one meetings, helping people to overcome barriers to employment and identifying transferrable skills to expand their opportunities.
Access to online courses, training, video tutorials and information on suitable live vacancies is to be provided.
Cllr Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Youth Services at Hounslow Council said: "We welcome this new funding to help our residents who have recently lost their jobs due to COVID-19.
"Hounslow is one of the boroughs worst hit in London, due to its heavy reliance on Heathrow and the ripple effect that has been suffered across the local economy."
