Ruth Cadbury says the government must address a raft of issues following Thursday's announcement that London has been put in a Tier 2 coronavirus lockdown.

The Brentford MP took part in a meeting with Health Minister Helen Whately along with other London members to discuss the new restrictions that come into force at 1am on Saturday.

Ms Cadbury said: "With these restrictions being announced many important issues remain outstanding for the government; they need to fix the test and track system, they need to ensure those isolating are given adequate support especially those who are on low pay and they need to make sure that messaging from the government comes across clearly.

"I will continue to raise these issues and others directly with government ministers and will make sure to that the voices and concerns of local residents are heard in Parliament.

"I continue to believe that a short 'circuit breaker' is needed across the country, as advised by the Governments own SAGE advice. "

The restrictions mean that households cannot mix indoors with other households.

Ms Cadbury added: "I know that these restrictions will place a greater burden on many local residents, families and businesses.

"The last seven months have been extremely difficult and the coronavirus has and will continue to have a huge impact on so many areas of our society.

"It is also important that you download the NHS Coronavirus App if you haven't already.

"It is vital that we all follow the public health advice and work together to help reduce the spread of this virus."
