A family furniture business based in Brentford for over 15 years boasts a rich and worldly history.

RHA is a family-run firm started by Richard and his wife Caroline Duperon-Hunt, to be succeeded by their daughter and grandson.

After being made redundant, Richard, 76, set up the RHA furniture firm with Caroline back in 1994.

Initially they opening a small showroom in Kew Road, Richmond before moving in 2006 to their current offices and showroom in Brentford.

A family affair, their daughter Liese Brandt took over the directorship last year having been sales director for many years, whilst grandson Ross James is the company's sales consultant.

Richard, originally from Bristol, started in the furniture business at the age of 16 when he joined the largest furniture store in the world, Maple and Co, as a trainee.

By the time he turned 20 he was furnishing palaces in Saudi Arabia and travelling across the Middle East.

"I've been in the business all my life," Richard told Nub News. "The biggest highlight for me was the project Conrad in the Algarve nine years ago which still wins awards every year.

"It gives me great pride when I visit. The pride is to go and sit on your furniture."

RHA also provides furniture closer to home, having recently supplied Brentford's Italian restaurant La Rosetta with new chairs.

Richard said: "We went to eat there and people were coming up to us and saying these chairs are amazing, so that's satisfying.

"And with so many restaurants opening nearby we hope people will come to us for the furniture, rather than going half way around the world for them."

Richard and his wife have lived in Brentford for nearly 23 years.

Despite experiencing a hit due to the pandemic, the small business was recently able to recruit a local woman as their new office assistant.

With over 30 years' experience supplying contract furniture and custom made joinery solutions to the leisure, hospitality, corporate and luxury residential sectors, they have a glowing history of contracts.

To name but a few, past jobs have included: working at Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street, the G8 Summit of World Presidents at Gleneagles, the Prestigious Sheraton in Addis Ababa and the Business and First-Class Lounges at Heathrow for Singapore Airlines.

They also have an office in Portugal and have recently worked with clients in Barcelona, Sudan and even Las Vegas.

With a strong family succession, Brentford bond and glittering past, RHA is an impressive local business to be reckoned with.

RHA furniture is located at 1 Brentwaters, The Ham, Brentford.
