A man has been sentenced to six months in jail after being found with a knife on Hounslow High Street.
On Wednesday 10th May officers from Hounslow Central Neighbourhood Policing Team were on a pro-active patrol on Hounslow High Street and Casey Fellows, 22, and another man ran away when they saw the officers.
The pair were quickly detained in a car park on Hanworth Road and a search of CCTV cameras showed that Fellows had discard an open Stanley knife.
Fellows already had a suspended sentence for possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
He pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in a public place and was sentenced to six months in prison and was made to pay £85 costs and a criminal surcharge of £154.
PC Daniel Cheeseman, Dedicated Ward Officer for Hounslow Central, said: "Knife-enabled crime is a priority within the Metropolitan Police Service, and by taking this knife off the street and putting the defendant in prison.
"It is another clear message to those who sought to bring violence to the streets of London that we will use every available opportunity to seek out those committing knife enabled crimes."
Since the Met launched Operation Sceptre in 2019, it has now been adopted nationally and over 90,000 knives and offensive weapons have been removed from the streets.
