Detectives investigating the death of a woman in South Ealing have charged a man with murder. 

Dennis Akpomedaye, 29, was arrested on Tuesday (May 17) and charged on the evening of Wednesday (May 18).

Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Robert's Alley off Church Gardens in South Ealing shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

Officers found a 21-year-old woman, later identified as Ania Jedrkowiak, with a number of stab injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation was launched.

Akpomedaye, of Blewitt Street, Newport, will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court today (Thursday, May 19). 

A 20-year-old man who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder was released from police custody without furth action.
