Man arrested after armed police operation in Chiswick High Road

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after his car was stopped by armed police in an operation on Chiswick High Road.

The 34-year-old was taken to hospital after suffering injuries that are non-life threatening.

Up to 16 police vehicles and two ambulances were involved in the operation.

His vehicle was tracked from Dorset after a double stabbing near Gillingham in which a man in his 80s died and a woman in her 60s was critically injured.

Dorset Police received a report at 7.30pm on Wednesday raising concern for the welfare of the occupants of an address in near Gillingham.

Police found the man and the woman had been stabbed.

The injured man was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9.15pm.

The injured woman was airlifted to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police believe the arrested man and the victims were known to each other.

A vehicle believed to be linked to the incident was located travelling eastbound on the A303.

The operation involved Wiltshire Police, Hampshire Constabulary, Thames Valley Police, Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police who stopped the vehicle in Chiswick High Road.
